Accommodation

Accommodation options are available both on double occupancy and single occupancy within 3 to 5 minute walking distance from the hospital. Single occupancy rate is $1250 and double occupancy at $850. Once you have paid the Rotation fee, and the accommodation fees we will connect you to the landlord.

Description of the Rotation

Psychiatry Rotation Overview

Schedule:

  • Monday to Friday: The timing will be decided by the attending physician.
  • 2 weekends per month (Saturday and Sunday)
  • Times may vary based on the attending physician’s schedule
  • Students may also attend didactics, lectures, and grand rounds as required

The attending physicians will provide the detailed schedule at the start of the rotation.

Student Responsibilities

Rotating students will actively participate in patient care by:

  • Collaborating with residents in patient management
  • Coordinating with nurses to facilitate patient care
  • Interacting with faculty and subspecialties involved in patient care

This ensures a comprehensive understanding of hospital workflows and teamwork in psychiatric care.

Learning Experience

This rotation provides a unique opportunity for medical graduates aiming to become effective residents. Key highlights include:

  • Exposure to a variety of psychiatric and behavioral health conditions, including:
  • Admitted psychiatry patients
  • Behavioral Health and Addiction patients
  • Patients on the Deaddiction floor and Behavioral Mental Health wards
  • Learning evaluation, management (Mx), and prescription (Rx) strategies for psychiatric disorders
  • Gaining hands-on clinical experience designed to prepare international medical graduates (IMGs) for the US Clinical Skills Exam (USCSE)
  • Understanding the United States healthcare system under direct supervision of a teaching attending physician

At the end of the 4-week rotation, students may request a performance-based letter of recommendation (LOR) on hospital letterhead.

Hands-On Training

As an active member of the team, students will:

  • Interact with a diverse patient population
  • Perform detailed history taking and physical examinations
  • Review labs, notes, and patient records
  • Formulate differential diagnoses and execute treatment plans (Rx) under supervision
  • Participate in discharge planning and execution

This practical exposure helps build clinical confidence, diagnostic skills, and team-based care experience essential for residency.

  • Full payment is due 6 weeks before the rotation start date
  • 50% refund if the rotation is canceled before 4 weeks of the start date
  • No refund if the rotation is canceled within 4 weeks of the start date
