ACCOMMODATION

Accommodation options are available both on double occupancy and single occupancy within 3 to 5 minute walking distance from the hospital. Single occupancy rate is $1250 and double occupancy at $850. Once you have paid the Rotation fee, and the accommodation fees we will connect you to the landlord.

Description of the Rotation

Cardiology Rotation Overview

Hospital Rounds
  • Daily cardiology rounds on the medical floors, ICU, and CCU
  • Monday to Friday: Approximately 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
  • Students rotate at Jackson Park Hospital during Weeks 1 and 3
  • On rotation weeks, days may extend from 9 a.m. to 4–5 p.m.
 
Clinical Responsibilities

During your rotation, you will:

  • Take detailed histories and perform physical examinations on consulted cardiology patients
  • Review labs, EMR notes, and imaging
  • Evaluate:
  • EKGs
  • Echocardiograms (ECHO)
  • Stress Tests
  • Other cardiology diagnostics
  • Formulate assessments and treatment plans and discuss them with the attending physician
  • Assist in facilitating patient care by communicating orders with nursing staff
  • Participate in a 100% inpatient, hospital-based cardiology rotation
 
Weekend Rounding (Optional)
  • Students may join the attending for Saturday/Sunday rounds
  • Weekends are optional, not mandatory
  • Schedules are subject to change based on the cardiology attending’s availability
 
Outpatient & Academic Components
  • Hospital-based outpatient clinics: 1–2 times per week, approx. 4 hours each
  • Required academic activities may include:
  • Didactics
  • Lectures
  • Grand rounds
  • Zoom teaching sessions conducted by the Head of Cardiology
  • Additional learning includes EKG interpretation and observation of ECHOs and stress tests
 
Overall Learning Experience

This rotation offers a comprehensive cardiology exposure designed for medical graduates who aim to become strong, effective residents.
You will encounter a wide variety of cardiac conditions and learn their diagnosis, management, and treatment. The program is specifically structured to prepare international medical graduates (IMGs) for the US clinical environment and the USCSE through hands-on clinical experience under the supervision of teaching attending physicians. At the end of the 4-week rotation, students may request a performance-based Letter of Recommendation on hospital letterhead.

Throughout your rotation, you will:

  • Interact with diverse patient populations
  • Perform detailed histories and physical examinations
  • Review labs and clinical notes
  • Formulate differential diagnoses
  • Develop and execute management plans under supervision
  • Participate in discharge planning and care coordination
 
Duration and LOR Opportunity
  • Although the core rotation spans 2 weeks, the workload is comprehensive and days are long
  • Students will still receive a 4-week LOR from the department chair upon completing the rotation
 
Combination Rotation Option

To maximize the experience:

  • Students can complete an Internal Medicine rotation in Weeks 2 and 4
  • This allows earning two Letters of Recommendation in one month
  • Total cost: $3150
  • Includes $250 savings
  • Additional ~$2000 savings on rent, accommodation, food, and transport

Refund Policy

Full payment is due 6 weeks before the rotation start date. You can also pay the entire rotation fee at the start without putting a deposit down. 50% of the amount will be refunded if rotation is canceled before 4 weeks of the start date. No refunds after that.
