ACCOMMODATION

Accommodation options are available both on double occupancy and single occupancy within 3 to 5 minute walking distance from the hospital. Single occupancy rate is $1250 and double occupancy at $850. Once you have paid the Rotation fee, and the accommodation fees we will connect you to the landlord.

Description of the Rotation

Pulmonary & Critical Care Rotation at JPH

Rotation Location: JPH Hospital
Schedule:

  • Monday to Friday: 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. (hospital rounds)
  • 2 weekends per month (Saturday and Sunday)
  • Outpatient clinics: 1–2 times per week, approximately 4 hours
  • Additional Activities: Didactics, lectures, and grand rounds as required
  • Schedule may vary based on the attending physician’s discretion

Students will receive the detailed schedule at the start of the rotation.


 
Clinical Responsibilities

Students will gain hands-on experience in managing a diverse inpatient population:

  • Rounding on patients in:
  • General medical floor
  • Intensive Care Unit (ICU)
  • Coronary Care Unit (CCU)
  • Step-down areas
  • Managing critically ill patients, including those on ventilators
  • Exposure to acid-base and electrolyte management
  • Participating in outpatient pulmonary clinics 1–2 times per week

This rotation provides a comprehensive experience in inpatient and outpatient pulmonary care.


 
Learning Experience

This rotation is designed for medical graduates aiming to excel as residents. Key benefits include:

  • Exposure to a variety of pulmonary and critical care disorders
  • Hands-on learning of evaluation, management (Mx), and prescription (Rx) strategies
  • Preparation for US Clinical Skills Exam (USCSE) for international medical graduates (IMGs)
  • Understanding the United States healthcare system under attending supervision

At the end of the 4-week rotation, students may request a performance-based Letter of Recommendation (LOR) on hospital letterhead.


 
Hands-On Training

Students actively participate as members of the care team by:

  • Interacting with a diverse patient population
  • Performing detailed history taking and physical examinations
  • Reviewing labs and patient notes
  • Formulating differential diagnoses and executing treatment plans (Rx) under attending supervision
  • Participating in discharge planning and execution

This rotation provides practical, immersive training in pulmonary and critical care medicine, building clinical skills, confidence, and teamwork experience essential for residency.

• MMR • PPD (within 6 months) • Proof of Covid vaccine • Immunization records • Resume • Casual business attire or scrubs/Lab coat in hospital and clinics.

Refund Policy

Full payment is due 6 weeks before the rotation start date. You can also pay the entire rotation fee at the start without putting a deposit down. 50% of the amount will be refunded if rotation is canceled before 4 weeks of the start date. No refunds after that.
