Accommodation

Accommodation options are available both on double occupancy and single occupancy within 3 to 5 minute walking distance from the hospital. Single occupancy rate is $1250 and double occupancy at $850. Once you have paid the Rotation fee, and the accommodation fees we will connect you to the landlord.

Clinical Rotation Overview –St. Bernard Hospital

Diverse Clinical Exposure

Insight Hospital Medical Center and St. Bernard Hospital serve a highly diverse patient population, including Caucasian, Black, Hispanic, Asian, Indigenous, and inner-city communities.
Students gain exposure to a wide variety of clinical pathologies, advanced diagnostics, and state-of-the-art treatment approaches, providing a rich and comprehensive USCE experience.

Daily Schedule

Monday – Friday: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The schedule typically includes:

    • Hospital rounds (Depending on the attending physician’s schedule, the attending physician will decide which day and time to take you for hospital rounds.)

 

Outpatient clinic hours

  • From Monday to Friday 9AM – 4 PM
  • Daily patient follow-up in both hospital and clinic settings
  • Students will perform:
  • Detailed histories and physical examinations
  • Lab reviews and diagnostic workups
  • Assessment and management planning
  • Case discussions with residents and attending physicians
 
Optional Weekend Hours
  • Students may choose to participate in Saturday hours
  • All timings are subject to change based on the attending physician’s schedule
  • Combined hospital rounds + outpatient clinics total approximately 6 hours per day
  • Rotating students will work closely with Residents, Fellows, and the Attending Physician, ensuring a collaborative clinical learning environment.
 
Academic Expectations

Students may be required to attend:

  • Didactic sessions
  • Lectures
  • Grand rounds
 
Clinical Responsibilities & Learning

As part of the medical team, students will:

  • Interact with diverse patient populations
  • Perform comprehensive history taking and physical examinations
  • Review labs, imaging, and EMR documentation
  • Formulate differential diagnoses
  • Create assessment and treatment plans under direct supervision
  • Follow up on all assigned patients daily
  • Participate in discharge planning and execution

  • Full payment is due 6 weeks before the rotation start date
  • 50% refund if the rotation is canceled before 4 weeks of the start date
  • No refund if the rotation is canceled within 4 weeks of the start date
