Description of the Rotation

Operating Room Exposure
  • Students will attend daily scheduled surgeries in the hospital OR
  • Work closely with the Chief of Surgery on a daily basis
  • Observe and learn various surgical procedures performed at the center
 
Pre-Operative & Bedside Experience
  • Perform daily pre-operative preparation and patient evaluations on the hospital floor
  • Observe bedside procedures, including central line insertions
 
Outpatient Clinic Experience
  • Attend outpatient clinics 1–2 times per week
  • Each clinic session is approximately 4 hours
 
Academic & Educational Activities

Students may be required to attend:

  • Surgery seminars
  • Morbidity and Mortality (M&M) conferences
  • Didactics
  • Lectures
  • Grand rounds
 
Clinical Responsibilities

As an active member of the clinical team, students will:

  • Interact with diverse patient populations
  • Perform detailed history taking and physical examinations
  • Review laboratory results and patient notes
  • Formulate differential diagnoses
  • Develop assessment and treatment plans under attending supervision
  • Follow up on all assigned patients daily
  • Participate in discharge planning and execution
 
Training & Learning Objectives
  • Designed to prepare International Medical Graduates (IMGs) for the U.S. clinical environment
  • Provides hands-on clinical experience under the supervision of a teaching attending physician
  • Offers real-world exposure to U.S. hospital workflows and patient care standards
 
Letter of Recommendation (LOR)
  • At the end of the rotation, eligible students may request a performance-based Letter of Recommendation
  • Issued on official hospital letterhead

Payment Policy

Full payment is due 6 weeks before the rotation start date. 50% of the amount will be refunded if rotation is canceled before 4 weeks of the start date. No refunds within 4 weeks of the start date.
