The rotation follows a structured and professional schedule:

• Days: Monday through Friday
• Hours: 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

This consistent schedule allows for focused learning during the day while leaving evenings available for self-study and case review.

Diverse Ward Rounds

While the foundation of the rotation is Internal Medicine, the patient population is highly diverse. Daily rounds may include:

• General Medical Floors – management of acute and chronic medical conditions
• Surgical Floors – consultation for post-operative infections and medical management of surgical patients
• Specialty Wards – exposure to cardiology or nephrology units with overlapping infectious or general medical concerns

This variety enhances clinical reasoning, adaptability, and confidence.

A Dual-Focus Learning Environment

The primary strength of this rotation lies in its leadership and dual-specialty exposure. Students work directly under an attending physician who specializes in both Internal Medicine and Infectious Disease. This dual focus allows learners to view hospital medicine from two complementary perspectives.
